We didn’t win…

Despite an outstanding effort, with 9,900 votes coming from Grafton… the Friday Night Lights winner pulled by WEEI yesterday was Lincoln (R.I.) High School’s Rear Football Field, which had managed to garner 1,400 votes.

To quote Jack Bauer: Dammit!

Sorry — sorry — I try to curtail my swearing on the blog. But this completely blows.

It was, however, an awesome effort by the town to get lights for Grafton High School’s Harry Stevens Memorial Field, which has been a cause adopted in the name of former GHS football player Kevin Vulter. I’m sure with all the support “Forever Kevin” has been receiving, Grafton High’s Friday night games will someday be brightly lit.

It’s just going to have to be later rather than sooner…

What is the point of making people vote to pick a winner at random? It seems like some sort of screwed up electoral college. Grafton had about 5,000 more votes than any other town, a clear winner, but no, lets pick out of a hat.

Yeah, I didn’t like that when I checked out the rules when the contest was first publicized. We had better odds, but what good are odds if the person pulling the name doesn’t actually touch one of your 9,900 votes?

I was so afraid this would happen!! How disappointing. I think the concert was well attended and there will be more fundraising I am sure. Just a setback for a family members and friends who are working towards a great goal.
