Give us this day, our daily giraffe
Molly, how happy are you to finally be home at Southwick Zoo?
That’s right — Miss Molly returned home to Mendon Wednesday, according to Southwick Zoo’s website. Molly spent about a week at the Large Animal Hospital at the Cummings School for Veterinary Medicine at Tufts here in Grafton after her mother was unable to produce milk.
Southwick reports Molly gained about 20 lbs. and grew about a foot under Tufts’ loving care. She also became an international sensation due to editors’ constant need for cute animal pix (guilty!) and appeared on the Today show.
Southwick opens for the season on April 11.So yes, you’re going to have to gird yourself for at least one more giraffe photo blitz around then and I’ll be done.
I expect she’s going to draw crowds of fans from Grafton and beyond, so she’d better rest up!

Alright, enough of this gushy stuff about girraffes…how about a girraffe joke?
OK…this guy and his pet giraffe walk into a bar and start having a few quiet drinks. As the night goes on, they get pretty drunk. The giraffe finally passes out near the pool tables and the man decides to go home.
As the guy is leaving, he’s approached by the bartender who says, “Hey, you’re not gonna leave that lyin’ here, are ya?”
To which the guy replies, “that’s not a lion, it’s a giraffe.”
